THE RUFUS AFFAIR

Exhibit  A  "Yes I have Your Erection."

Picture
This 'letter' was the first item to be sent by Andrew Webb to Rufus (on 27.01.2005) after the 'event'.  To the right of the tree, in the center of the picture, we see the artist's stamp.  Consisting of the artist's monogram 'AW' written in Arabic, the stamp was procured in Cairo by 'person Y' who will feature in a most crucial role as the case for the defense unfolds.  The gold leafed finger prints hint at criminality (as does the blood red stain) and the Midas touch - Webb being known for his sometime use of gold.  The thief's glove is doubled, by the use of a second stamp, and therefor negated.  The imagery of the original design is so obviously related to the 'object' at the heart of this matter and finally there is the top inscription "Eve's Hairy Tree You Coin"  ('coin' being a pun on the "scene" of the incident) which is an anagram of "Yes, I have Your Erection".

B The "Scene"

Picture
The  "Scene" was an empty corner of the Brasserie Verschuren, on the Parvis de Saint-Gilles in Brussels,  curated by Marc Rossignol and known as the "Coin Vide".  Webb exhibited the work "Habillé Jusqu Aux Neufs" there from 5th February to 22nd March 2003.
